The Problem We Exist to Solve

The men and women of the Special Operations Forces and the U.S. Intelligence Community are among the most capable individuals this country has ever produced. They have operated in environments of extreme complexity and danger — often in silence, without recognition, and without complaint. They have protected this nation at extraordinary personal cost.

Yet when the mission ends, many find themselves navigating an equally demanding challenge: the transition back to civilian life. The networks, structures, and identities that defined them for years are suddenly gone. Mental health resources are scarce. The civilian world doesn’t speak their language. And asking for help can feel like a sign of weakness — even for those who have never backed down from anything.

Armor Within was founded because that gap is unacceptable. The people who gave the most deserve the most intentional, expert, and dignified support as they begin their next chapter.

Who We Are

Armor Within is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization built by and for members of the Special Operations and Intelligence communities. Our board and advisors are veterans of the 75th Ranger Regiment, the CIA’s Directorate of Operations, the Committee on Homeland Security, and leading national security firms. We have lived this transition ourselves. We know what the road looks like — and we know what makes the difference.

Our approach is grounded in three principles: Safety, Dignity, and Renewal. We create a stigma-free space where operators and officers can seek help. We honor the depth of their service. And we believe — with certainty, because we’ve seen it — that the skills forged in the classified world translate into extraordinary civilian lives when given the right support.

We envision a future where no Special Operations Forces member or Intelligence Officer faces the transition to civilian life alone — where every person who served in the shadows has access to a community that understands their experience, resources tailored to their needs, and a clear path toward renewal.
