Armor Within is led by people who have lived the mission — and the transition.
Board of Directors
Joshua P. Katz — Director of the Board
Joshua P. Katz is a Director of the Board of Armor Within and a seasoned national security executive with more than 20 years of service across the U.S. Intelligence Community, the U.S. Army, and the private sector.
Josh began his career as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army’s elite 75th Ranger Regiment, earning the Order of Saint Maurice and serving as a Ranger School graduate. A service-connected disabled veteran, he carries a deep, personal understanding of the physical and psychological demands placed on those who serve in special operations and intelligence roles — and of the challenges they face long after they come home.
Following his military service, Josh joined the Central Intelligence Agency as a Certified Operations Officer in the Directorate of Operations, where he led classified projects worldwide and participated in sensitive diplomatic negotiations at the highest levels of government. He later served as a Senior Policy Advisor for Counterterrorism and Intelligence on the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Homeland Security, shaping national intelligence and CT policy and building the Committee’s relationships with the IC by more than 40%.
In the private sector, Josh has built a distinguished career as a Senior Program Manager and AI operational subject matter expert, directing geographically dispersed teams of up to 75 personnel delivering classified operational and technical support across the IC. He has led sensitive AI programs supporting national security objectives — achieving all milestones ahead of schedule and under budget — and has advised senior leadership on AI/ML investment, acquisition, and innovation strategy. He holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and an MBA, and is fluent in Spanish with working knowledge of Japanese, Czech, and Russian.
Josh is passionate about the mission of Armor Within — supporting Special Operations Forces and Intelligence Officers through the transitions and trials that follow service. He joined the Board because he believes that those who have given the most deserve the most intentional, expert support in finding their footing on the other side.
Josh is married and the proud father of three children. He is also a USA Hockey Coach certified at Level IV.
